The 127th General Assembly of the State of Ohio Recognizes the Shawnee Nation United Remnant Band During National American Indian Heritage Month
Bellefontaine, OH December 12, 2007, The Shawnee Nation, United Remnant Band was re-recognized by the 127th General Assembly of the State of Ohio during National American Indian Heritage Month that November. The legislators took the opportunity to honor the Tribe for its remarkable history of service while reaffirming their role as Ohio's only State Recognized Historic Tribe of Native Americans [Am. Sub. HJR No. 8]. Originally recognized by the state of Ohio based on a 1979 resolution of the Ohio state legislature.
