The Shawnee Nation, United Remnant Band owns and operates Zane Shawnee Caverns and Campground which hosts over 60 wooded campsites. Many sites accommodate RV camping with electric and water hook-ups. Each site contains a cooking fire-ring and a picnic table. Cabins accommodate from 2 to 8 campers. Clean rest rooms, hot showers, shelter houses, a swimming pond, a fishing pond, recreational and playground area and miles of hiking trails add enjoyment and relaxation to the camping scene.
Zane Shawnee Caverns is located six miles east of Bellefontaine, Ohio which has several restaurants and hotel accommodations. Three hotels in Bellefontaine include: Comfort Inn, Days Inn and Super 8 Motel.
Project NATIVE programs utilize 90+acres of natural woodland, ravine, field, pond and stream habitats. The Zane LaBelle trading post and pioneer village along with the Center Ground Native American historic village offer historic settings and cultural ambiance to the learning environment. Many sessions utilize the Shawnee Woodland Native American Museum and the underground Zane Shawnee show cave.
Each 1-day Project NATIVE program is divided into no less than six 45-minute learning sessions with a 45-minute additional time allowance for lunch. A small group round-robin format is utilized to insure a low number participant-to-instructor ratio. Some sessions require a larger number of participants; i.e. Music and Dance, Storytelling, etc. 2-Day programs are divided into no less than 13 learning sessions with additional time allowance for lunch, supper and free time.
